I tried to read this book once but couldn't get into it.

The pacing was weird on this one. It's quick out of the gate with sex scenes, it felt like there were about 12, lol, and then there's a long slow part where they hardly interact at all, and I assumed that that was a middle part and it would pick back up, but instead it just barely teased something more and then abruptly ended. I'm intrigued enough to read the next one, but because of the pacing and cutoff, I don't feel all that satisfied with this as a free-standing story. I think probably they should have just been combined to begin with to achieve more of a narrative arc. Perhaps the next one will pull it all together. ( )

I'm giving this 5 stars, not for this book on it's own but with the idea that this is part 1 of a series. I'm ask assuming the other parts will be on the same level as this one This book is basically foreplay leading up to the main event and I do love me some good intense foreplay.

Vance, one of the MC's, is quicky becoming one of my favorite characters in any romance. The character is so fleshed out and real and so very relatable. I hurt for him and wanted to punish want mother fucker who hurt him. This author, at least in this book had a talent for creating very fully realized characters and she had a real gift for writing dialogue

Which brings us to Luke. Ok, I've got a pretty big book crush on the pastor Luke, I'm not gonna lie. He is so charismatic and you can feel the sexual energy coming out of him in waves. He also made me quite angry a few times but that's all part of the story.

The sex is good. It's real good. And it starts practically right out of the gate.

The love promises to be good. We aren't there yet. We are nowhere close to there by the end of this book, which by the way is a cliffhanger. That's ok because the series had already been written and you won't have to wait around to continue the story.

If this series continues to be this good, it will most definitely crack my top 5 M/M romances ever.

Only 1 slight problem... Which contains a spoiler. When Luke says that Vance was his first, does he mean first time with a guy ever? That can't be right. He is far too skilled a lover for this to be his first. Does anyone know what first they are referring to? ( )

Tug of War

Like watching a game of tug of war between two devastatingly sexy men. Was it worth reading? Yes and no. It would be an absolute yes if it was one book with a happy ending. It’s not. I barely managed to handle the angst for this. This level of angst makes me feel like my nerves are bared and rubbed raw. As if I wasn’t overly emotional already.

While I am desperate to see these two lovers get their happily ever after. I’m not sure if I can handle such a powerful book.

If angst reads don’t turn you into a cranky lunatic, this is definitely an awesome book for you. ( )

Oh my. I am torn between being in love with this story and so annoyed that it ended so abruptly and incomplete. My heart completely broke for Luke. He's struggling with what his truth is and what is expected of him in his job/life. Seeing Vance and Luke together during the few times they were able to get together showed such heat, trust, and connection. Vance initially seemed like a flighty kind of guy, but as the story moved forward, it was so interesting and lovely to see how Luke shaped how he felt. These two need to be together, and I don't have time to read the next book, but I may need to be finding a way to do it right now. I don't like leaving this ending the way it happened. I need more now.

I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC provided by LesCourt Author Services ( )
