This book, funded by the Cultural Foundation of the State of Bahia, FUNCEB, is an anthology of poems, short pieces, and book chapters, all already published elsewhere, of contemporary authors from that state of Brazil. The intention is to showcase Bahia's literary production. The sampling is uneven and random, and the presentation is confusing. The texts selected are translated respectively into German, English and Spanish. The selection comprises the following authors: Adelice Souza, Aleilton Fonseca, Allex Leilla, Antonio RIse rio, Carlos Ribeiro, Daniela Galdino, Florisvaldo Mattos, He lio Po lvora, Joa o Filho, Karina Rabinovitz, Katia Borges, Lima Trindade, Lui s Antonio Cajazeira Ramos, Mayrant Gallo, Myrian Fraga, Roberval Pereyr, Ruy Espinheira Filho, Ruy Tapioca. Despite the miscellany, there are interesting individual samples within the volume, although the literary level is uneven. The quality of the translations vary, as well, from the passable to the good. [EVO]
