This summer was supposed to be spent lounging on the beach, madly in love with my boyfriend. Until he decided to move to Singapore, and break up with me an hour before his plane left. Now I'm stuck in a Hamptons house share with six of his closest pals, including his best friend who despises me. Since the moment Smith Redfield laid eyes on me, he's hated my guts. I'm serious, I think the raven-haired restaurateur gets physically sick just being in my presence. And he's never been shy about hiding that fact. There was the time he cackled when I landed face first in a pile of Manhattan trash bags. Or the night I tried to throw my ex-boyfriend a surprise party, and Smith had strippers crash the bash. Or maybe it was New Year's Eve, when he got in my face and called me a sheltered goody two-shoes who wouldn't know passion if it smacked me in the lips. He's rooming right next door for the summer months, and I don't think more animosity could exist than in the hallway of our vacation rental. As if I wasn't already sporting a bruised ego and broken heart from the way his best friend left me. But the more midnight run-ins we have, the more I can't help but think about the way his mouth would feel against mine. With each heavy-eyed glance over the dinner table, I'm starting to wonder if the damaged alpha male doesn't harbor more than just loathing towards me. After all, they say hate is the closest emotion to love. And with the way we're skating that thin line, it's bound to burn this whole house down.… (more)

From Enemies, to somewhat friends, then to lovers Molly has always thought her ex boyfriend’s best friend, Smith, has always despised her for no reason. So when she finds herself in The Hamptons having to spend her summer with the guy that hates her as she tries to find herself again after several months of being dumped via text, she just wants a calm vacation and to stay far away from him. At first Smith comes off as this rude, obnoxious guy who is set out to tear Molly down in any way he can and this makes the reader question what is wrong with this guy? But as we conintue reading we discover there is so much more to Smith and his feelings towards Molly that he feels he has to resort to playground tactics to keep her at arms length because once he met her he fell hard and fast but she wasn’t his. Smith patiently waits for Molly but now can he make her see there is more to him than his bullying and that he has in fact loved her for a while or will she think there is no redemption for him? Will things be awkward for the circle of friends and this keep a true love from blooming or can they make things work? I laughed so much and swooned so hard for Smith once he shedded his persona and showed us what truly lies underneath. This was another fantastic read with amazing characters that made me smile and fall in love with.

There was a lot I liked in this book quite a bit. There was also a lot I didn't love. But overall, a fun read. Molly and Smith were pretty much enemies from the moment they met when she started dating his friend. After the guy up and leaves Molly, she's stuck on a summer vacation with Smith and all his hate. But as the summer progresses, Molly finds out not all is what it seems with Smith and his feelings and the two begin a romance. But of course it isn't all smooth sailing for them and these two have to decide if it's even worth it.

For the most part, this was pretty good. Smith was kind of irritating. But he had his reasons. This was a fun take on the "hate to love" trope. ( )
