The queen survives book 17 to pop back and create trouble in 18. But killing her and the remaining demons will not be easy. But should they be killed? Do they have any redeeming qualities? Plus, what about the Evil Blooded ones. We finally find out who they are, and why they travel alone. This edition was exciting, while being bloody and gory. But it also still just drags the story on. It could have ended at the end of this book but there are still 2 more to go. I can not decide if I want those book, or if it just just the drag of the story I want. Kind of like my grandmother and her soap operas. I have my own manga soap opera. ( )

Emma and Ray make it to the Queen’s chamber’s but see what has happened with Norman’s plan. They talk with Norman about why he’s taken the path he’s taking and let him know they love him no matter what. The kids also find out that some things are harder to kill than others.

We find out Sonju’s past and who he really is... we also discover more about Mujika’s past - her upbringing and murder of her people and the “cursed blood”. It just adds so many layers to these demons that were already exceptional to begin with. It really makes you think about what people’s upbringings can mean.

The pace of this novel just keeps getting faster and faster and things are resolving left and right. They really don’t leave many loose ends, that’s for sure.
