I am a huge fan of this author. There is just something special about the way that she writes. I was excited for this new edition to the Dream team because I had high hopes that it would offer a fresher version of the Rock Chicks. In a way that is true and in a way it isn't since there are so many cameo appearances of characters from Rock Chicks and Chaos. I like that in a way but at times I also wish that there was more of a chance to just be with this group of friends. However, even though there are a lot of cameos (this time more with the guys from those books than the women), the author has done a good job at creating a storyline that is ongoing throughout all the books. Moreover, it is a storyline that makes sense to have all the past characters come back.

Since the first novella introducing Lottie and Mo, I have been excited for each of the girls, or her tribe per see, to have their story told. There was something interesting about each of the characters. Even if they didn't have a huge starring role the author made sure to present them in a way that made them special. That was definitely the case with Hattie. In the last book, Hattie had a major scene that was pivotal and a little heartbreaking. I looked forward to finding out her story which I was able to do in this book. From the get-go, it was known that Hattie and Axl would be together. What wasn't known was how that story would go. I liked that in this book the story of them being a couple came with such growth because they had a similar experience when it came to their upbringing. It was nice to see that they could bond over that. I liked how they balanced each other out and I loved the way that Axl loved her and visa versa.

However, at the same time, I wished for more in the resolution of the relationships that they had in common. I would have liked to see some closure in regards to one of those (even though it was pretty definitely final) because it felt like something was missing from it. The other relationship that needed mending did so without any real apology directly to the person that I felt should have had it. I wanted an explanation from the horse's mouth as to why he behaved the way that he did. I needed that to gauge if he really was sincere in where they were at, today, and how they would be in the future. All that aside, I enjoyed that there is an ongoing storyline that is woven into each book. Similar to the Chaos series where they had a common threat. It ensures that I have to read the next book to get the mystery solved while I also get the chance to read a standalone in an interconnected series.

That being said, this was still another great book from this author. It showed, again, that there is a reason that she is so successful and why I tend to reread her books several times a year. ( )
