"Leigh Harker is certain her house is haunted. Curtains open by themselves. Radios turn off and on. And a dark figure looms outside her bedroom door at night, watching her...waiting for her to finally let down her guard and fall asleep. Despite appearances, despite all logic, Leigh knows she's no longer alone. Pushed to her limits but unwilling to abandon her beloved home, Leigh's determined to find answers. This was a Once Upon a Book Club box and I was excited to read, but I DNF'd this book twice. Darcy does a great job with the supernatural horror elements and it might have just been a little too much for me. I will try another book from author to determine if I continue reading more of the author.

I felt I couldn’t get into the first 1/3 of the book. But once the midway twist occurred, it picked up and peaked my interest.

Received this book in the One Upon a Book Club Halloween Box. ( )

It's impossible for me to describe this book without revealing the best parts, so all I will say is that I thoroughly enjoyed the twisty (and twisted), creepy and terrifying, gut-wrenching, and touching story of Leigh Harker. I couldn't stop thinking about it. ( )

Another brilliant book by Darcy Coates. I loved this one too. This was different, and it took a bit for me to figure things out as I was a bit lost at first for the first chapter or two, but once I knew what was happening, I was enthralled and couldn't stop reading until the end. I wanted to know what was going on and everything. The answers to the questions were not quite what I was expecting, and it surprised me that I didn't figure it out myself. I love gothic supernatural mystery/thrillers like this and Darcy Coates writes amazingly well with her stories in this genre. ( )

The first 100 pages are TERRIFYING only to end up having one of the sweetest, most amazing twists I have ever seen in a book, along with an absolutely brilliant and heart warming end. I'm glad I read this book. ( )
