I like birds better than any other kind of creature, and of all birds, parrots are my favourites. That is why I said yes without a moment's hesitation when somebody once asked me to look after a cockatiel. The owner didn't return to pick up the bird, whose name was Koko, and I have never heard from the owner again. But since that time Koko has enriched my life and has contributed to my understanding and appreciattion of the lovable qualities of cockatiels, their agreeable nature, and their unusual talents. I hope that the advice in this book will be well received as I share that information that I have acquired over the years. Aviaries, veterinarians and diseases, breeders, care and keeping, proper cage, suitable food, right way to treat a bird, first aid and problems with other pets.… (more)
