It was too long and fell very flat. I had no sense of danger which was strange. The story picked up by half and finished strongly thankfully. I do wish we had gotten more of seryu in this book but I understand why we didn’t (he’s still one of my favourite characters though). I really loved how shiori has these bonds with literally everyone and how they come out in these stories. Although takkan really just stole my heart, there could be no better match for her. He is so sweet and just really dreamy and adorable. SPOILER: I also love how it didn’t end with everything being alright even after she got seriously hurt, but the way they fixed it by using the legend of Imurinya and her going to the moon for two seasons just totally gives you the fairytale feels. I didn’t enjoy the first book, but I thought the sequel would be more interesting because hello, an underwater kingdom with a dragon prince??? Sign me up! But the matter-of-fact, telling instead of showing writing style didn’t change. Shiori just feels like a blank slate or a generic character to me. Seryu and her don’t act like friends to me either.
The covers for this series are startingly beautiful, but I wished I could’ve enjoyed the series more.
