graphic nonfiction - teacher/cartoonist/author writes to her teenage self and offers helpful words about body image, relationships, eating disorders, depression, self-cutting, uncertainty, pansexual identity, processing trauma, using privilege to become a better ally, and more.

Being young is terrible. You have no understanding of your own aptitude to get through anything yet. (Prologue, p. 5)
We don't need a world full of people who are tough. We need a world full of people who are kind. And we need a world full of people who understand themselves enough to respond to their own trauma with patience, slowness, fullness, and humor. This is what makes humans resilient. It is how we create a better species. It is how we evolve. (Prologue, p. 10)
