This one had quite a promising first half. But starting roughly 65% in it starts to deteriorate. It turns into an endless string of cheesy melodrama. The biggest problem is that the author is not able to find good reasons for the drama she wants so she keeps doing the same thing over and over again and that is the bad guys trapping or kidnapping people they shouldn't be able to. It's quite ridiculous because it doesn't happen once or twice. It happens almost a dozen times at the point where I dropped it. Over and over again things happen like her sister getting kidnapped or a literal god able to build and destroy entire worlds getting caught in some stupid magic trap just to name a few examples. Interspersed here and there are the classic stupid misunderstandings that lead to mountains of angst. This was quite cute at first but after you pulled the exact same thing 5 times it loses any and all credibility. The last 30% are just these two cycles. Absolute bullshit reason for something to go wrong and then 50 pages of melodrama around the thing that went wrong. Rinse and repeat.
I think if you just removed all these repeating sequences the book would be at least 30% shorter.
Am I saying the book is too long? Not really. It doesn't feel like the author deliberately has drawn out the story. I have the impression she just genuinely didn't notice the endless repetition and ridiculous cheesiness. ( )

Oh. My. Gods.

I don't even know where to start!! Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book for my honest opinion.

Y'all. This book is A LOT. But in a good way. It was so hard to put down - to take breaks. I HAD to keep reading to find out more information and where the plot was going to take us. This book has a lot of tropes in it, but the good ones that you crave! It's a little long, fair warning, but you won't care about length when you get into it.

The world's, the characters, the plot. All of it is just amazing. Dianna and Liam? You will literally fall in love with them as much as I have. The supporting characters, too. My goodness. There are so many memorable and loving characters to enjoy in this book. But that cliffhanger. Ahhhhh. I need the second book in this series!! Pick this up and read it. You WILL NOT be disappointed.
