My interest waned at the end, but I always struggle listening to non fiction. ( )

Maggie’s book! Mostly about the business history of the brand. Good, but I ran out of interest for the subject, because it’s really only a long magazine article level of interesting (which is what it originally was) but good enough. Memory lane though of the clothes we wore (still wear). Really wish there were more photos of the iconic images that came up in the book.

This was utterly fascinating and an amazingly researched book. My J.Crew experience was basically around the early nineties as I definitely had a few of their rollneck wool sweaters (which oddly granted me some weird cred at college when I traded one with a boy for a sweater of his...) and later loved the outlet stores, but once I got too fat for their clothes a decade later I kind of forgot about them until heading into a store a little over five years ago and wondering where all this weird stuff came from (Jenna Lyons apparently...). Such a ride from its inception and the created mythos of the branding and then into all the different eras of people changing things up. I like that there really isn't an end to the story yet, but it's such an interesting journey of what feels niche yet is likely something that can happen to any corporation when times are continually changing.
