Fiction. Literature. Suspense. Thriller. Joanne knows how lucky she isâ??Richard is a wonderful husband, Evie is the most gorgeous baby girl, they live in a beautiful houseâ??life couldn't be better. But then Richard's twenty-year-old daughter Chloe turns up. Chloe hasn't spoken to her father since the day he married Joanne two years ago. But with the arrival of her baby sister Evie, Chloe wants to make peace. Richard is delighted, and since Joanne is struggling with the new baby, he suggests Chloe could move in and help. It sounds like the perfect solution, even if Chloe doesn't seem to like Joanne very much. But Joanne understands it's not easy for her, and she's prepared to give her time. But then things happen that make Joanne feel like she's losing her mind. She misplaces things, misses important appointments, gets dates wrong... Could Joanne be going mad, just like her own mother? Or is something more sinister happening? Is Chloe really here to help? Or has Joanne made a terrible mistake by letting her move in? And is it too late to ask her to… (more)

I'm so confused about whether or not I read the same book as some of yall.. This was so wildly predictable and the characters were insufferable. Like, I'm sorry but the way the audiobook narrator voiced Chloe and Evie made me want to throw up. The one thing that always kills me with thrillers is how cheesey and uninteresting everything becomes once the twists are revealed. Once I had the slightest inkling of how this book was going to turn out (which was around the 60% mark) I started to lose all interest. Maybe I'm just not a thriller girly but this wasn't for me. ( )

This was definitely a thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. Just when I thought who did things happened that made me second guess everything. absolutely loved this and highly recommend if you love thrillers that keep you guessing. ( )

DNF at 58%. As so many others have already said, this is a horrible book. The writing is horrible, the story is horrible, and the characters are the most horrible of all. I was going back and forth about whether I wanted to finish this. Could there be some great twist that would make it worth it? But at the halfway point I couldn’t take it anymore. The anger spikes were coming more frequently than Chloe’s BS or Joanne’s “beetroot” flashes. Decided it was time to read some spoiler reviews to see if I was truly wasting my time. The answer was obviously “Yes!”

Richard is the ultimate gaslighter. And if the spoilers are true, he’s an even worse human being for it than your typical manipulator. Chloe is the Devil’s mistress who probably even annoys the lord of the underworld. And I’m racking my brain to think of a more spineless twat MC than Joanne. So far, I’m coming up short.

Garbage. ( )
