Catalogue of a show held in the Museo Nazionale di San Francesco in San Marino (March 31 â__ June 2, 2012). Introduced by Cristina Acidini and edited by her and Monica Alderotti, the book opens with a â__treeâ__ of the dynastic ties between the Medici and the main reigning families of Europe of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Chapters include â__The Medici: a European dynastyâ__ and â__Family portraits and official portraitsâ__ by Alessandro Cecchi, and â__The Giovian Series in the Uffiziâ__ by Francesca de Luca. The eighteen portraits displayed there are reproduced in full and in detail. They are accompanied by descriptive notes by Monica Alderotti, Francesca de Luca, and Fausta Navarro, who draw on the latest bibliographical and iconographic research with editorial assistance from Vanessa Gavioli.
