"There was so much to do. We felt like little larvae again and almost forgot we were on a case." (Biedrzycki, 2009, no pg)

Ace Lacewing, bug detective, is back again with his friends Xerces and Zito to crack the case of the stolen dough. Scratch Murphy's flea bag is robbed and Ace Lacewing, debonaire bug, searches Six Legs Park for clues. This is a who-done-it style of story and is dialogue-driven. The colorful illustrations are large and stylish. The story pays homage to the detective genre and the gumshoe-bug-hero is sure to save the day. It is a mature enough storyline and plot to hold the attention of a young juvenile reader. There is strong vocabulary and contains the nuances of a crime story that requires a certain maturity to fully marinate. It is imaginative and catchy with its flair and flow. ( )
