Illustrations: acrylic painting. This book is about a young girl named Ariel who wants to race with her mom in a hot air balloon. Her mom says that she is too young to ride in a hot air balloon. On the day of the race, Ariel gets in the hot air balloon to look at it and accidentally falls asleep. Her mom starts flying the hot air balloon without realizing her daughter is in it. They go through several obstacles, but end up winning the race because of Ariel's help. This book is realistic fiction because it is a story that could actually happen and it involves real life people. Age appropriateness: intermediate. ( )

Genre- Early childhood chapter book
Age- intermediate
Summary- This book was about a balloon race that this little girls mother was in. This whole town had it and the little girl really wanted to go with her mother but her mother told her she couldn't until she was older. Then he mom felt bad and told her that she could go sit in the basket until her mom had to leave for the race. Well the little girl fell asleep and didnt hear her mom take off and her mom didnt see her because she was tucked under. Once they were already up in the air the little girl got up and he mom was freaked out and they had to go through the race together. The little girl ended up winning the race with he mother.
Review- It was a good suspenseful book I didn't want to stop reading it I would definitely have it in my class for my kids to read.

This is a chapter book. It only has 3 chapters, but it is very exciting for a child to read a book the firs time that has chapters. It is about a little girl and her mother who go up in a hot air balloon race. The little girl was not supposed to be there but fell asleep in the balloon. Her and her mother run into a little trouble in the air and thought they lost the race, but in the end they won. Even though Ariel was not old enough to fly, her mother was proud of her for helping to win the race.

I thought that this was a good simple story about a daughter and a mother and overcoming a simple obstacle together and the words and amount or reading was perfect for the age range given. ( )
