"The purposes of this book are (1) to describe and interpret the organizing policies and campaigns of the American Federation of Labor during the years 1901 through 1938 with particular reference to the mass-production industries; (2) to describe and interpret the ideological conflict which took place between the craft union majority and the industrial union minority within the AFL during the period; and (3) to describe and interpret AFL policies as to legislation, political action, and other matters which, like craft unionism, were questioned by the minority bloc within the organization. The emphasis of the study is upon labor organizing and structural controversy."--Introduction. No library descriptions found. |
