Defective views of God and of Christian doctrines stemming from Mysticism and Neo-orthodoxy are not uncommon, and this book contains more than a few errors attached to those heresies.

"...God's heart broke over the problem [of sin] long before ours did. He, therefore, set about devising a plan..." (45). Contrary to this the Bible teaches that God is unchanging and immutable; his "heart" never breaks, nor does he change His decree that He must devise plans as men do.

A defective anthropology is taught: "...holiness primarily produces perfect hearts, not necessarily perfect heads." (52) The heart/head dichotomy is false: "For as [a man] thinks in his heart, so is he" (Proverbs 23:7).

Abraham also teaches a defective view of sanctification: "...the secret to spiritual success: It was resting in the knowledge that Christ was in him and he was 'in Christ.'" (219) "The “mystic aura” that some theologians throw around this phrase is not restricted to this author. "They misinterpret other Scriptural words and phrases in order to generate more mystic auras. They simply do not understand what Christianity is." (John Robbins) The Bible teaches that for the believer holiness is the reflection of the image of God, Genesis 1:26; Colossians 3:10; Ephesians 4:24.
