I couldn't figure out if this was supposed to be a story about a girl with addictions or the fact that vampires exsist. It was a quick read but the storyline was shaky. The characters are well described but we don't get any background really as to there relationships. I was disappointed because the title and the blub on the back lead me to believe this was going to be about a book in which the girl has a choice, which i guess is true, but it still didn't live up to expectations. SIGH! I so wanted to find something, anything, good about this book. The only part of the book I could stand to read was the last section with the "encounter". The book was just so boring. It was a short read but seemed like it took forever to finish. The writing was not very well done and seemed to be bogged down with teen speak. This would have been better as a short story with just the last section and the beginning all condensed. The action scene was easy to read. The rest was just repeat after repeat. The days were all the same and just boring. I wouldn't waste your time with this one, there are much better vampire books out there! I love a good vampire story and found it refreshing to find a book with a traditional vampire bound by traditional vampire rules. I would caution, however, if you are against books with many (many) drug, alcohol, and sexual promiscuity mentions, you probably want to stay away from this one. For those who don't mind, or actively look, for those things, then I think this book is definitely worth a look. This is a vampire novel of the vampires are monsters genre seeming to hide under the romantic vampire genre. The main character is struggling to define who she is and what she wants. It takes a series of epiphanies to help her understand what she wants and who she is. I appreciated how Jordan changed her life and took control. no reviews | add a review

When rejection comes back to bite you... Jordan's life sucks. Her boyfriend, Michael, dumped her, slept his way through half the student body, and then killed himself. But now, somehow, he appears at her window every night, begging her to let him in. Jordan can't understand why he wants her, but she feels her resistance wearing down. After all, her life -- once a broken record of boring parties, meaningless hookups, and friends she couldn't relate to -- now consists of her drinking alone in her room as she waits for the sun to go down. Michael needs to be invited in before he can enter. All Jordan has to do is say the words.... No library descriptions found. |

There’s little paranormal in the story, actually I think that the book should’ve been a Realistic Fiction, the whole vampire thing could’ve been dismissed so the story can only revolve around Jordan and her addiction and family problems plus the death of her ex-boyfriend and how she tries to handle all these with a messed-up and broken mind.
The atmosphere is really dark, this is my first book that deals with a teen girl who muddle through her angst and anxiety issues by smoking pot, sniffing coke, no-tomorrow flings and “getting trashed and wasted” at almost every party.
Though it’s YA novel, I think it’s more suitable for older teens (16 and up).
