"Project Seasons is a wonderful collection of creative teaching ideas and practical activities for educators who want to integrate science-based environmental education into their curriculum." Follows the school-year seasons of fall, winter and spring with thematic groups of activities that reflect changes on the farm and in the natural world. Hands-on nature activities designed for children in kindergarden through sixth grades. Themes include harvest, farm life and history, soil and worms, forsts, snow, animals in winter, tracks, maple sugaring, green plants, birds, insects and water. Each activity is written to stand alone, but many are part of a thematic series of activities. Most activities can be adapted for any season, different geographic locations and can be taught at any time throughout the school year. Each activity includes learning objectives, recommeded grade level, groupings, materials and approximate time required. Includes some ready-to-copy pages. Additional background information provided for some activities. Bibliography at end includes a selection of story books, information and activity books for children and teacher resources for all themes.
