Title: Myth-ion Improbable Series: Myth Adventures Author: Robert Asprin Rating: 3 of 5 Stars Genre: SFF Pages: 198 Format: Kindle Synopsis: Taking place quite a while, chronologically, before the previous book. Skeeve buys a magic treasure map and with help from Aahz and Tananda pursues it across the dimensions. Little does he know that vampire cows, a shapeshifter and some serious amounts of gold are all involved. My Thoughts: I was pretty confused at first, since when I'd read my latest Myth book back in '14, Skeeve was practically king of Possiltum. Overall, this was ok. It wasn't super funny but it was a good filler read. I don't have much else to say. " A childhood favorite re-visited. Is the story as good as I remember? – Yes What ages would I recommend it too? – Twelve and up. While ten to twelve might enjoy it, there are many ideas they will not understand. Though, they will certainly get many of the jokes. Length? – Most of a day’s read. Characters? – Memorable, several characters. Setting? – Fantasy, alternate dimensions. Written approximately? – 2001. Does the story leave questions in the readers mind? – Ready to read more. Any issues the author (or a more recent publisher) should cover? No. Short storyline: While this was the 11th book Robert Asprin wrote, it belongs at this place in the series timeline. In this book, Skeeve, Aahz, and Tanda declension hop to follow a treasure map to a golden cow. This unique dimension holds many mysteries, including the locals fear of night, vegetarianism, and those strange cows, which Skeeve has not only never heard of, but never seen. Adding to the fun, is the hints of the “round up” from the town’s characters, the magical map that changes from place to place, the odd traveling companion they meet up with, and the actual identification of the the “golden cow.” Notes for the reader: In this story, this author takes the emotions of his characters seriously. The characters don’t just race through the story full of action without emotion. The author realized the importance of the reader connecting to the characters by giving us the emotions, and even the reasons behind those sometimes odd emotions for the situation. While the first few times, it is a shock to the system to actually read of a character having an emotion, soon, it just becomes an enhancement to the story. In fact, when the lack of emotions by the main character becomes apparent in a later story, even that is noted by all the characters, until it is resolved. This book, set between Myth-Direction and Hit or Myth, is fun. We've got a smaller cast, a magical treasure map to a castle of gold, a pseudo-Western setting, and some very strange cows. In fact, I was so busy having fun that I didn't see the revelationscoming. Gleep fans, the dragon gets only a cameo here, sorry. no reviews | add a review

Skeeve is feeling rather restless and suddenly remembers the treasure map he bought on his last adventure. Knowing Aahz's lust for money, he shows him the map. Quicker than a Deveel at the Bazaar of Deva can take your possessions, they were off to find the Golden Cow There were a few problems, aren't there always. Tanda decides that she is in on the hunt; for a share, of course. Since Aahz is not too up on vortexes, just dimensions, they have to visit a Shifter at the Bazaar for directions-he/she/it gets a 5% cut of the treasure for each time they have to visit him/her/it. Only, the map is magical and changes as the proceed. They meet some odd characters, some peculiar dimensions. Meeting vegetarian cowboys, odd cattle, and redundant towns on their way to find gold, they face odd obstacles and find humorous solutions. ( )
