In the beginning, Spookley didn't want to e square, he wanted to be a circle like the other pumpkins. The other pumpkins tease Spookley for being square. Until one day the other pumpkins needed spookley by saving them as they would roll and he didn't. Spookley saves the other pumpkins by blocking the fence and helped them to stay put. Since Spookley saves the day the other pumpkins looked at him differently. They didn't look at Spookley the same ever again. This made Spookley glad to be a square Pumpkin again. This book teaches you to not judge a book by its cover. Great book for kids to understand that being different can be good. This book is a good example of myth or legend because the story of the square pumpkin is a legend of how a square pumpkin saved all of the round pumpkins one night, even though all of the round pumpkins had made fun of him for being a square. The plot of the story is to show the reader the moral of the story, which is another characteristic of the legend genre. The moral of the story was to not judge a book by it's cover, or a pumpkin by its shape, because you never know when their differences may come in handy. no reviews | add a review
