When a beloved music dies, Emmaline seeks ways to keep the memory of her alive. Suggestions include the Jewish custom of putting a pebble on her headstone. Emmaline finally decides to continue her music lessons to honor her former teacher. The story ends as she and her new teacher sing "All Through the Night;" the sheet music for it is included in the book.
