Book description
The Summer House is a powerful adventure set in two worlds, which share the same stars. One is our world, where real evil may lurk unnoticed – the other is the Summer Lands, peopled by strange characters – some crazy, some daring and some deadly. Jeremy is taken by his parents to live in the country, far from friends and familiar places. He finds himself almost trapped in an overgrown garden, surrounded by a high stone wall which seems to shut out the rest of the world. Only one thing there interests him – the summerhouse – but it is old, almost hidden by brambles, and he is told that it might be dangerous. It seemed an ordinary grey day in October when a sudden thunderstorm clattered overhead. But, from the moment the storm broke, Jeremy’s life was to change dramatically. As the story unfolds we see that someone – or something – very evil is stirring up dark plans to drive away all order and goodness from the Summer Lands and eventually from Jeremy’s world as well. Gradually Jeremy becomes caught in the struggle as one of the Seven who must fight back the Darkness to save the Light. But they must work in great haste, for all the while the deadly Darkness seems to know their plans and will do anything it can to delay them. In a terrifying climax, Jeremy discovers why he has been chosen to join the fight, and he knows that he must risk his life if the Summer Lands and his own world are ever to be saved.
