La leyenda cuenta que La Llorona es la madre que deambula por los caminos llamando a los hijos que ha asesinado. Conocemos a la protagonista de esta novela por su llanto invisible, el de una madre que ha perdido a su hija a los pocos dias de nacer. ¿En qué la convierte el destino: en asesina o salvadora? ¿Qué ocurrio realmente en ese hospital con su pequena? Unida a otras mujeres en su misma situacion buscara las respuestas, conseguira alzar su voz y rebelarse contra la adversidad.

Una donna di umili origini partorisce in ospedale una bambina, ma dopo qualche giorno le dicono che la figlia è morta in seguito a una febbre violenta. Lei non si rassegna, si convince che la piccola sia ancora viva, e decide di agire. Con l'aiuto di una giornalista scopre che nell'ospedale ci sono troppe morti sospette e trova una donna pronta a testimoniare di aver sentito i medici parlare di un rapimento: il sospetto di un traffico illegale di adozioni e di organi diventa quasi certezza. E allora, insieme ad altre madri nella stessa situazione, decide di creare un'associazione che si batte per portare alla luce gli orribili crimini. Un giorno, vede una bambina tenuta per mano dalla moglie del ministro degli Interni, è certa che sia sua figlia. In un impeto di gioia rabbiosa tenta di strapparla alla falsa madre. Arrestata, viene internata in un ospedale psichiatrico. Lì non rinuncia all'idea di riavere sua figlia...
