This book is phenomenal for young readers. It tells the story of two siblings, Flip and Flop, making new relationships with two polar bears, Hip and Hop. The book follows a rhyming pattern which is certain to bring in younger readers. The rhyming throughout the book makes it easier to read and more enjoyable for younger students. An example of this is "Flip was five. Flop was 2. Whatever Flip did, Flop did too." This line provides a lot of necessary information for understanding the story, but it is presented in a way that still makes it fun for kids to enjoy. Along with the writing style, the illustrations are very colorful and fun and will absolutely keep students interested in what is going on. The big idea of this book is relationships and making new friends. Flop is upset when Flip kicks him out and replaces him with his new friend Hip. When Flop finds a new friend Hop, they realize that they can all have a good time together. This book will be incredibly relatable for students that have siblings and have dealt with making new friendships before. ( )
