This is a book about counting with each pair of pages (left and right) about a number - except that it's misprinted with the pages for 4 missing and the pages for 5 duplicated. So it's a failure at its most important function, which is teaching kids to count. I don't know that it would be very good at that, either, because the words aren't really about the counting. The text for 5, for instance, is "Elmo loves books about numbers", with a number 5 written next to a drawing of Elmo's hands holding 5 books.

Speaking of the drawings, the style's quite annoying, since the art appears to be intended to look like Elmo drew all the illustrations (the "about the author" has a shtick that the illustrator "helped Elmo").

In all, I'm glad my oldest outgrew this book and I intend to let my youngest tear it up before he gets old enough for me to start reading it to him. ( )
