This is a great book to use with students! I used to read this book as an ELL student and I enjoyed looking through Junie's experiences. This is a great book for students to relate to different situations or events that occur in school or at home. This book portrays different events through Junie's view, which is great to show students that they can also do the same in their own writing. Although this book lacks multiple uses of illustrations, it still incorporates illustrations when it is most needed to create mood. This is a great guided reading book, especially when focusing on the topic of fear or getting over a fear. Teachers can also have class discussions about the different chapters of this book and really analyze the problem that Junie B. Jones is trying to solve. ( )

This book is the story of Junie B. Jones and how she has a monster under her bed that she is afraid of. She is unable to sleep a wink because of how scared she is. One day at school they get their school pictures back and Junie B's are so bad that she puts them all under her bed to scare the monster away.

Book description
Junie B. Jones has several books that young children love. Junie B. Jones is a typical little girl with an extraordinary imagination. Throughout the book series Junie B. Jones sentence structure is much like a kindergarten would talk. She has an attitude and acts a lot like a kindergarten kid. "Junie B. Jones Has a Monster Under Her Bed" is a story about Junie B. getting bullied by some friends. They give her a hard time and tell her that a monster lives under her bed. Junie B. rushes home after taking the dreaded school pictures to let her family know so they can get rid of the monster. The grandma comes up with another plan and runs over the monster in the vacuum bag with her car. Junie B. Jones is still worried because it was not done the right way to get rid of the monster, but then gets her school pictures back and realizes they are scary enough to get rid of the monster. That is just what she did. She cut up her school picture and placed them all under her bed to scare the monster away.
