2344 First Blood: The Story of Fort Sumter, by W. A. Swanberg (read 25 Nov 1990) This is a well-footnoted book with a good bibliography. It tells in good narrative style the story of Fort Sumter, starting with Sept 1860 and ending with its fall on April 14, 1861. I felt he made the account unfailingly interesting. This is a 1957 book and is the seventh book by Swanberg I have read. ( )
