The book is certainly more than a history, however, for much of it pertains to the present-the giant military installations, the museums, the parks, the churches, the zoo, and many other subjects. An entire chapter is devoted to Fiesta San Jacinto, the Gay, week long blending of Mexican and Anglo culture. The book is superbly illustrated with nearly two hundred photographs and seven maps.
