I expected a gardening manual -- I had no IDEA that I'd be inspired. I feel like I met a friend with the same plant geekiness that I have; it's rare to find. I learned a lot about wild plants in my area and how important it is to incorporate them in a totally unique way to think about gardening. ( )

Elegantly written & packed with useful information to help gardeners rethink how & what they plant & nurture. Seed-saving, food cropping with CA native plants, restoration gardening are just some of topics Lowry covers here. ( )

this book was fun to read, especially for a ca native plant nut, it really explains the way a landscape can be transformed by bringing back the natural ecosystem into yards including all the life that generates.....birds, bugs, reptiles, and on and on. ( )
