The eggs hatch, and the baby ducklings go on a quest trying to find their mother. As they encounter new animals, they ask many different animals if they are their Mommy. Each animal tells them no, until finally they run into Mommy duck who takes them home. Personal Reaction: A very sweet story about baby ducks that get separated from their Mom that I believe younger children will enjoy, especially as the story resolves with a happy ending when the family is reunited. The pictures are soft with cheery colors, and animals that most children will quickly recognize. The story can be followed easily, and is short enough to capture smaller attention spans. Classroom Extension Ideas: 1. This story could be paired with a matching activity about what animals belong together, or belong in pairs. 2. This story could be paired with an activity in preparation for open-house or parent involvement day by having students draw pictures of the people who make up the members of their own family. no reviews | add a review
