It's not the type of book that you read from cover to cover but a book to own in order to learn about and recognize the frogs in your area. The CD with calls is marvelous. ( )

One field guide is never enough--never. The best part of this particular guide (tho not exactly for use in the field) is the CD that gives examples of the calls of each species...awesome. Just the same, the photographs and info included in the guide are all great. Maps showing the animal's range are always helpful, and a part of this book. Excellent book to be used in conjunction with a local field guide. ( )

Have you ever wondered what a Sonoran Desert Toad sounds like? Well now you can find out! This book is not only a colorful visual guide covering all 101 species of frogs and toads in the United States and Canada, but also comes with a superb sound recording of their fascinating calls. A wonderful look into the secret lives of amphibians.
