Excellent book that explores alchemy as a spiritual tradition rather than regarding it, as so many modern texts do, as a bad early attempt at chemistry. ( )

Alhemija je dugo smatrana primitivnim oblikom hemije, gde oni koji je praktikuju nastoje da proste metale, poput olova, pretvore u zlato. Međutim, pomnije proučavanje jezika simbola koje alhemija koristi i upoređivanje sa sličnim “veštinama”, kakve se još uvek praktikuju na istoku, jasno nam otkriva jedan duhovni metod uz pomoć kojeg možemo postati svesni sopstvene, vanvremene, unutrašnje stvarnosti. Izlaganje u ovoj knjizi će moći da posluži da se sačuva pravi duhovni horizont alhemije od pogrešnih simplifikacija kakve neizbežno sa sobom nosi čisto istorijski pristup. Baš kao što i objekti u prostoru izgledaju manji što su dalji od nas, tako i sve što je daleko u vremenu izgleda nam redukovano i pojednostavljeno u formi – a što je veći i duhovni jaz između jedne epohe i druge, time je taj efekat jači. Izmađu našeg doba i doba kojem pripada alhemija jez je skoro nemerljivo širok. Ova knjiga je mali ali svakako koristan doprinos da se taj jaz barem malo smanji.
