The present study makes available genealogical information contained in The Pennsylvania Gazette, published in Philadelphia during the Revolution, from 26 April 1775, the first issue after the outbreak of the hostilities,, through that of 30 April 1783, which contained news that Washington had ordered the cessation of hostilities. During this period the newspaper, then being printed by William Sellers and David Hall, twice suspended publication, first from 27 November 1776 to 5 February 1777 and then, during the British occupation of Philadelphia, after the issue of 10 September 1777 up to 5 January 1779.
