Critical Review

Darren Shan was born in London in 1972 he moved to Ireland when he was six. He used to just write for grownups but then he decided to try to write to for children. He started writing for children with the series called the Cirque Du Freak. His series was a big hit so he continued to write for children. So he wrote the series The Demonata It is a very well written series. There are ten books in the series it is a very addictive series and it will have you up all night long reading these books.
There are three people called Grubbs, Bec, and Kernel they are all magicians but not on stage they use magic to kill demons that live in another universe some are strong and some are weak but all pose a threat of some kind. Those three are thought to be part of an ancient weapon called the Ka-Gash, it was said that the weapon was broken into an unknown number of pieces thousands of years ago. This weapon can supposedly destroy one of the universes either the demons or the humans. There is a group of mages and magicians called the disciples fighting to stop the impending demon invasion of the human universe. This book is like others I have read like by authors such as William schoell and John Blackburn. I like all horror books so I may be considered biased.
I think that this is one of the best books I have read and one of the best Darren has written. If he was just starting out with writing and wrote a book this good he would become popular very quick. It has a good easy to follow plot and great details I feel like I am in the book sometimes. I have read this book 5 times and have not gotten bored I can still pick it up and read for hours. This book seem mainly geared towards teens and young adults but I would have liked when I was five or fifty. It is a awesome book And I recommend it to anyone looking for a good read, but you will have to read the other nine books in the series to understand everything. It is worth taking the time to read the other nine though. I would personally rate this book a nine point five (9.5) out of ten. It is a great book and I plan to read it again very soon.

WOWI ordered this book from the UK (i live in the US) and was AMAZED by it!!!!I am very sad that the series has ended and will now be on darren shan withdrawl for awhile but i thought the book was fantastic! The endng was what i joked about with my friend happening but it was everything i expected and more. It wasn;t the best book in the series and i thought the charcters has changed A LOT since the others i must have missed when they changed.
