Walker Books have introduced a great new range of high-low - high interest level, low reading ability - books that cater for young teenagers who are disenchanted, underconfident readers. In our research, we found both teachers and parents of such children felt that they often regarded a complete novel as inaccessible, whereas a short story was within their capacity and meant success was possible. Consequently Survivor and Paying For It each have a collection of five short, exciting stories by a mixture of new and established writers, each book dealing with a common theme.
