Born on an ancestral farm in southwest Ohio shortly before the end of World war I, Katherine Rowland's early years were circumscribed by the Great Depression and World War II. Released by the end of that second world war, Katherine and her husband, Elden Heart Rowland, set out to follow his dream of becoming a fine artist. As Elden progressed into his life-long career as a painter and teacher, Katherine, too, found her place in the art world. Katherine's first book, A Painter and His Wife, released in 2006, focuses on Elden's story.
