This book has great illustrations to guide the reader into understanding the steps behind growing and using a pumpkin. The book does a good job of comparing the different types of pumpkins and how they are used in all different ways. The vocabulary of the book is simple, which would be great for lower elementary students, such as Kindergarten or First Grade. I had mixed feelings about this book. Though it was age appropriate, there was so much information that could have been included in the informational text. Information such as where pumpkins are grown and the process, that students could understand, were missing detail. However, I did enjoy the photographs that were included. The photographs included children from the age range that the author was rooting for so it was more relate-able. The central idea of the story was how pumpkins are grown and what they can be used for. no reviews | add a review
