When Ella Montgomery goes to Flitterwig's school to learn how to use her Elven skills, she thinks her greatest challenge will be to dodge her nemesis, Gloria Ulnus, and to find her wings in order to qualify for the Skateboarding Championships at the end of term. Until one day, her best friend, an emotionally unstable pixie, is kidnapped by the evil Duke. In order find him, Ella and her Protector, Charlie Snoppit, must awaken the Giants of Gommoranahl, travel to the South Pole and decipher the mysteries of the Spirit Trees. In return for the Giants' help, Ella must establish their innocence and clear their name with the Elf Queen of Magus or she will be beholden to them forever.
