I read in today's FT that Paul Auster died yesterday.
I recently received a recommendation on this forum to read his New York Trilogy, aparently somewhat similar in style to Murakami. I have the Folio Society edition of that book sitting on my bookshelf, and eagerly await getting started with it.

Rest in peace, Paul. Lung cancer. A nasty opponent. My grandmother fought the desease twice. Decades of smoking certainly didn't help.
New York Trilogy is a very interesting noir read. Recommending it to anyone wanting to explore Paul Auster's style

I was just at a book talk on Monday where Amor Towles was describing how he worked Paul Aster into one of the short stories in his new book because of the New York Trilogy. Made me want to read my FS copy.

>4 jsg1976: The FS edition of Auster's New York Trilogy is really Folio at their best, brilliant illustrations, typography and overall design. If I remember correctly it won a design award.

>5 cronshaw: Yes. It's a very sleek edition. Too bad it is too tall to fit on my modern lit shelves.
It's been selling quickly on ebay and ABE the last two days.
