I need to give a Christmas gift to a lover of historical fiction. Is there anything coming out in paperback that is good that I could buy for a gift

Wolf Hall--it won the Booker recently.

I highly recommend anything by David Liss. Some may be put off by the esoteric financial stuff, but they are still extremely readable and a very good read.

Something new about the Christmas story. I am author of Sins of the Magi. It is Historical Fiction leaning toward Non-Fiction after 20 years of research. Particulars can be found at my Authors web site. kennethleemorgan.com It has a blog about who the magi were, where they came from and what their motives were, and what the star was all about. The novel includes both drama and love interest. See me at kennethleemorgan.com

There is such a wide range of historical fiction from which to choose! I would recommend A Gentleman in Moscow or Remember., Remember the 6th of November

Since the query is from 12 years ago, I expect the OP already made a decision!
