No one is Leonard's equal,-and anyone who might doubt it would only have to read Elmore Leonard's riveting noir classic, Unknown Man #89, to become a true believer. The twisty tale of a Detroit process server whose search for a missing stockholder leads him into more serious peril than he ever imagined possible, Unknown Man #89 is a gourmet stew of mystery, suspense, and double and triple cross, peppered with the razor sharp dialogue for which Grand Master Leonard is justifiably famous. Exhilarating old-school crime fiction that the late, great John D. MacDonald, Dashiell Hammett, James M. a billion times better than the big bounce. though it’s hard to go wrong with a book with a character named Dick Speed. ( )

Another great book from Elmore Leonard. A continuation of the Jack Ryan character from "The Big Bounce". I wish everyone could write as good as Leonard. His books always have such a great flow. Also, the very last sentence gives the reader a little something to think about. ( )

Desperate airplane read found in the seat pocket. At least it doesnt have the gore, visciousness, crudity, and violence of Leonard's later stuff. But without that, it's nothing. I wonder if it took longer for me to read than it took him to punch it out. Bet it was close.

I wanted to put a minus 1 rating but it would not let me ( )

Another of Leonard's myriad well crafted and intersting mysteries. Evocative description of being an alcoholic. ( )
