This book tells the story of the American Prairie chicken from the perspective of a narrator from the chicken's point of view. The narrative of it would help kids understand this bird's story, as it is a little more complicated. The lack of color pictures and diagrams would make this a book for older kids. I would probably teach this actually as part of an introduction on what life was like back when these birds were still in abundance, as part of an environment question.

Wildlife in the Antarctic is a good informational book because it gives a lot of good information about what lives in the arctic and a little bit about the history of Antarctica. It has information about penguins, many different seals, and whales.
1: I would use this book as a resource for my students when learning about animals
2: I would also use this book when talking about the different environments animals live in. (e.g. arctic, savanna, rain forest, desert, ect.)
