About the Author

He is the director emeritus of the Whitney Museum of American Art. In addition, he has led three other major museums, the Rockefeller Folk Art Museum, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts & the Andy Warhol Museum. Trained as a painter at cornell University, He has written books & articles in show more association with museum projects. Among his honors & awards is an honorary degree from Hamilton College.
