This is probably the wrong book to read as an interested party. This is much more of an academic tome. This is Chartism with all the emotion drained out.
The book consists of eleven chapters, each written by a different academic. The feel is rather as if each was aware that ten of his/her piers were going to appear alongside and so, grave discussion is made of dry detail whilst the fire of the movement has long been doused. This is not to say that it is a bad book, simply the wrong one for general consumption.… (more)
