There's no real plot in this film, although the characters are fictional. It's more a slice of life in a run-down motel near Florida's Disney World. Some good acting, and a nice pace, but basically rather depressing, if eye-opening to the kind of living I knew nothing about.

The children are the stars, particularly Brooklynn Prince as the wild and often obnoxious Moonee. She is seriously neglected, but makes the most of life and she does care for her mother. The only likeable person in the entire film is Bobby, the hard-working and frustrated manager (Willem Dafoe)

Far too much bad language, and while there's no overt nudity or 'adult' scenes, there's a great deal implied. Rated 15, but unlikely to be of interest to any teenagers.

An prostitute finds out her pimp/boyfriend cheated on her while she was in jail.

Not a bad movie, but I can't figure out why critics love it so much. It's an amateurish production, and doesn't do anything exceptionally.

The story of a precocious six year-old and her ragtag group of friends whose summer break is filled with childhood wonder, possibility and a sense of adventure while the adults around them struggle with hard times.
