Powerful, poetic, and dark, this multi-layered work takes us into a city where no one is safe. But it also asks: how different is it really from the cities we all know? With rich, allusive language--I was often struck by the Biblical nature of it--and a heady dose of horror, it's a profound and original rendering of humanity's dark side, a literal "nightmare become real" that is at once propulsive and highly intelligent.
