Gin Sullivan, a forensic Pathologist is working as consultant in hometown. Her romance with local contractor is upset when his mother, who had abandoned him, dies of an overdose. The seller leads police to a human body. Case becomes more and more complicated, with a second teen suspect. Surprise ending of the maybe we have this wrong variety.

In this final installment in the Gin Sullivan series, we see some changes happening. With only about 30 pages left, they hadn't solved anything or tied up other parts of the storyline and I started to get worried that it wouldn't wrap up in an acceptable way. However, Anna Carlisle pulled it out at the end and tied everything up with a nice bow, after a couple of detours of course. The first book was definitely my favorite out of the trilogy, but this was a nice bookend for the series. There was the suspense, puzzles, and twists and turns that you have come to expect in a Gin novel.

My only complaint is that through the entire series, it needed better proofreading/editing. There were many grammatical errors, and there were two glaring errors just in this novel alone. During an autopsy that Bruce wasn't even at, there was dialogue for him. And towards the end Gin and Bruce were having a conversation sitting down in the lobby of the police station when all of a sudden there's a center console between them and Gin is leaned up against a passenger window...like, what??? Plus, Madeleine's name was spelled wrong at least once in this book. If ya'll need a new proofreader, get a hold of me, I'm your girl.

Other than the editing errors, the book was good. All in all, a nice ending to the trilogy. If you've read the other two, definitely read this one. If you're on the fence about the series in general, I would say go for it, they are pretty quick reads. A relatively strong, independent female protagonist who uses her brain for her job in a science field, no less. Definitely recommend this series for fans of Christina Dodd or Simone St. James.

This is the second book in the Gin Sullivan trilogy. This one was not as suspense filled as the first book, but it was still okay. I have high hopes for the final book in the series. The story kind of just dragged on with not much happening though. It seemed to take forever for anything to really get moving. With no real connection to the characters, I wasn't entirely interested in what was going on. The tension between Gin and Jake was not the best addition to the plot either. After everything they had been through and how the first book ended, I was disappointed that they were having so many issues in this book. And on top of that, Gin having chemistry and attraction with Tuck? Like, what?? Why was any of this necessary? Why couldn't Gin and Jake have worked together like they did in the first book? I mean, this book was okay but it was a far cry from the great first book. That's really all I have to say.

All in all, this isn't a bad addition to the series. It left a little to be desired in the suspense area but it wrapped up nicely. If you've read the first book, then I would recommend continuing the series with this book.

This is the first book by Anna Carlisle that I have read, and I must say that she is now one of my favorite authors. I was hooked within the first five pages and could barely put the book down. I'm usually good at figuring out the whodunit, and this one had me guessing the entire time. The story was gripping the entire time, and although there were multiple subplots, they weren't confusing at all or deterred from the main story. If anything, it helped move the story along and gave clues to the mystery. The inter-family drama was gripping and made you really care about the characters. Even though there were numerous characters, all of them were well developed and had their own voices and stories.

All in all, this a great novel and I am looking forward to reading the entire series. If you like suspense, family drama, and mysteries, then you will enjoy this. I would recommend this for fans of Christina Dodd, Riley Sager, Tana French or Ruth Ware.
