2021 movie #128. 1990 You'd be excused after seeing the cast, the director, and the source material for thinking this was a hit movie. But it wasn't well received and flopped at the box office. I thought it wasn't terrible, in fact, watchable, although a bit over wrought at times

It's a bit of a depressing play but worth the read. Those who are left behind when loved ones die often have a harder time at letting go than those who are actually dying and that's what this play addresses.

A play about death. By focusing on three dying people and their loved ones, it illustrates the five stages of dying identified by Elizabeth Kubler-Ross. But it also focuses on the idea that, while dying, people are still living. Enjoy every sandwich, as Warren Zevon said. Very affecting.

I'm giving it a second reading before auditions tonight.

Haven’t read John Updike’s “The Witches of Eastwick” in years but the memory still draws images of great language and the mystical transportation it afforded by creating a viable reality grounded in everyday detail. After just flogging myself threw “The Widows of Eastwick” the memory of the former looms larger than life.
