I am very sad to say that the top review is right on the money. I hoped it was just a crass exaggeration or only an unimportant element of the story at least.
But sadly neither is the case. It's precisely what the first sentence of this review describes and it's all this book is about.

1 star for the good writing.

Spring Magic by T M Cromer
Thorne Witches #4. Paranormal romance. Best read as part of the series. Trigger warnings should be read before reading this book.
Spring has loved Knox forever. But he shut her down years ago and avoids her at all costs. When Spring agrees to hunt down an artifact to help her mother, Knox must protect her. The Desorcelers are determined to catch and kill every witch and Spring is caught in a trap.

I cannot rate this book. Events happened that were horrifying and the last thing I want to read in the pages of a romance. At that point, I totally withdrew my emotional attachment to the characters. I finished the book for reasons other than wanting to know how it would be fixed. I don’t know if I will be able to return to this author though I own many more books by her.
I will advise any romance reader to skip this story and simply go to the next.

Winter Magic by T M Chromer
Thorne Witches #3. Paranormal romance. Best read in series order but is a complete romance arc for this couple.
Years ago, Winnie and Zane had a relationship and encounter that didn’t really go well for both of them. In an argument at the time, a wish to “forget I ever knew you” turned into a magic spell and Zane no longer remembers their history. Now, Zane is hit with all his memories and is furious with Winnie. He also learns he has magic abilities and his life is about to change more than expected.

I totally understand the instinct to yell and be defensive rather than calming discussing the situation. And I understand Zane’s fear of being laughed at. They were relatively young and inexperienced. Getting to know each other again forces each to be honest and open with each other but it does take time.
In the meantime, an amulet is needed to help save the women’s mother and the mystery is woven into the relationship repair as other family gets involved.
The epilogue crosses over to the next book in the series and next sister and a teaser left unanswered.

I’m a sucker for anything with witches and warlocks! Throw in romance, something evil to fight, and in kindle unlimited and I cant resist. Just a fun, quick read that makes you forget about real life for awhile!
